Tapping into the consciousness

Stained Glass is a great way to add a touch of elegance to your home. When placed on a south facing window, it also acts as a passive solar heating source, especially in the winter when the sun is lower in the sky. The design possibilities are endless as you can see from the samples on this web.

I learned this art in the 1980′s as a hobby to keep me busy in the cold New England winters. Originally I learned the technique of leaded construction and then broadened my craft to the copper foil technique. Generally the leaded construction works best for windows in order to take advantage of the passive solar benefits. Although I have primarily designed and built windows, I have also built lampshades, night lights, hanging ornaments, kaleidoscopes, and other three dimensional objects. Much of my work has also used design elements of sacred geometry.

My rates are excellent as I charge $30 per hour plus the cost of materials. Others in the area charge about $60 per hour plus material costs. To give you a feel for cost, I have included the window sizes in the photos along with the cost of designing and building the windows. As a general rule, the majority of the cost of a stained glass window is in the labor.

I am based in Santa Fe, NM. To discuss the addition of a stained glass project for your home, please call me at 505-424-1990 and ask for Mike.

I hope you enjoy these samples. I look forward to talking with you about custom designed windows in your home or business.
